Post machining is necessary for most aluminum or zinc die casting products. What matters is the grade of precision and complication of post machining. Some simple and plain die cast parts only need turning or drilling by common simple machines, while some die cast automotive or telecommunication parts require high precision and complication machining. For these die cast products, CNC machining equipments like machining center is needed.
Die casting plus precision machining
Though high pressure die casting process can achieve near shape castings with fine surface quality, it still can't be free from post machining especially precision machining. Any casting must have draft angles, edge rounds and even structure ribs which are designed for facilitating die casting but should be removed for finish proudcts.
Compared with sand casting or other rough prime process,surely because of its high near shape level, negeral die casting parts only need slight machining allowance for post machining, however beause of the same advantage, high pressure die cast parts always have much more complicated structure and contours, thus the difficulty of post machining still exists even much higher.
